As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I work with patients as they navigate chronic or life threatening illnesses, grief or loss, as well as major life transitions or events. Through my work as an oncology social worker, I've developed an understanding that losses (health, loved ones, finances, relationships, etc.) can cause my patients to question their purpose and meaning of life. I help patients process the feeling of loss of control and assist in the development of coping skills as they re-assess and re-prioritize their lives.
I provide support as patients manage grief, stress, anxiety, and depression associated not only illness but illness's impact on their personal relationships, financial security, and ongoing responsibilities.
Many people have already developed adaptive coping mechanisms but my goal is to assist individuals in identifying and organizing these skills so that you can more consistently utilize them in a time of need.
My unique skillset with cancer diagnoses has given me insight to patients as well as caregivers overall cancer experiences. I can assist patients with problem solving through their fears associated with drug side effects, scan reviews, and overall management of life with ongoing treatment. I problem solve with patients as they explore their new identity as a person with cancer and the impact this diagnosis has made on their loved ones and life. I've become familiar with the emotional response to scan/lab results and sitting with patients as their hope shifts. I have extensive experience with fears related to recurrence, losses related to a diagnosis, survivorship, parenting, grief and end of life.
My goal is to support patients as they navigate a journey they never chose to go on.
